Its factual advantages are that it needs no account or card during the open beta, and it does not charge for media through a token wallet. Its limits are browser-only memory, daily usage caps, and paid plans that have not launched yet.
Which AI companion has the best memory?
Nomi AI. Testers describe a multi-layer memory that brings back details weeks or months later. Erogen AI (core memory slots) and Nectar AI (starred memories, up to 64K context on Ultimate) are the next most capable, but their best memory features need higher tiers.
Which AI companion app is free?
Desire AI, our featured partner, is free with no signup during its beta. SpicyChat AI has no daily message cap on its free tier (with ads and queues). Erogen AI allows about 600 messages a day. Most others are demos: Candy AI gives about 5 messages in total, and GirlfriendGPT gives 10 to 20.
Why do AI companion apps cost more than the advertised price?
Many subscriptions include only a small token or coin allowance. Images, voice calls and video draw on that allowance, and once it runs out you buy more. Annual prices are also often shown per month but charged upfront. Some apps, such as DreamGF, renew at a much higher price after the first term.
How are the scores calculated?
Independent apps are scored on memory (25%), pricing transparency (20%), free-tier usefulness (15%), media features (15%), privacy and billing (15%) and complaints (10%), with a practical ceiling near 4.2. The featured partner, Desire AI, is not scored.
Are AI companion chats private?
Rarely completely. Most apps store your chats on their servers and send messages to AI model providers. Several say they use conversations to improve their models. Use a separate email address, keep real names and workplaces out of chats, and read each app's privacy policy before you share anything sensitive.
